We use the phrase 'God knows' to imply, NO ONE knows.
'God forbid' is used to refer to an unpleasant event which is very UNLIKELY to be prevented.
'God speed' clearly means some kind of speed or swiftness NO ONE can achieve.
The exclamatory remarks, 'Oh my God!', 'Shit!' and 'F***!' can be used interchangeably.
So are we all intrinsically atheists? ;)

Actually, you shouldn't say "we use". You use.
When I say "God knows", I am quite aware that I'm resigning my human ignorance to something that surpasses it.
We all seem to know something.
We all [seem to] try to know more. Carry stretch this argument.
Who knows the most?
Who knows everything?
You can't say that there is no one who knows everything, because you don't know everything.
You can say, well I am [or Science is] trying to know everything.
When one day you (or one of those blessed heirs to the final complete Science, whoever they are) knows everything, then one you will have denied what you just said!
So do you see the metaphysics concealed in Science?
Most most people with a modern scientistific world view are philosophically challenged. They have no clue about the metaphysics concealed in science. Science gurus like Stephen Hawkings and Penrose are well versed in metaphysics and have made your metaphysical choices for you. Have you tested for yourself if they are correct? I've found that the common scientific world view is a very crude materialist positivism. What is the nature of "evidence"? Is the green that you see the same as the green that I see? Can you prove it? Have you solved the Mind-Matter problem? What about the hidden metaphysical implications of Bell's theorem?
Carry stretch your argument to the limit of its arguability.
Then become the god of your wildest imagination.
Then tell me what the Final Science looks like.

Anyway, this is just to cap off our arguments so far. I should send you NR's books. You'll find all your answers there.
P.S. The expression "God Speed" has nothing to do with going fast. It's just a way to say "good luck".

Science studies the external physical phenomena... what about the noumenon or the "thing it itself"?
What would the universe look like if there were no scientists to see it?
@shyam: first of all, this was never intended to be a serious argument. it was for fun. so chill!
two, i never denied the existence of unanswered questions
three u CANNOT TEST watever u are claiming
fourth, please dont send me that mallu guy's texts, my hands are alrady full arguing with you!!!
finally, 'god speed' did come out of swiftness :p ... http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/god%20speed
hey an intersting observation which might relate to ur blog.
Ur title speaks abt devil and relates to usage of word "God" in various situations.
The words "Devil" and "Deva" have their origin from the same root word. So probably there is no duality at all!!
Hey that wasnt intended to be offensive. May be i should have added a smiley.
@bhuvanesh: i dont understand. what is not offensive?
nice observation! But when i say Oh my God or God forbid, I believe that God exists. 'God Knows' if u believe in the supreme power. 'Good God!' I do believe in supreme power and I'll 'thank God' if u r not an atheist. didn't know how to use 'God damn' and God willing' ;)
Dei my previous comment wasnt published.
oh ... i dint receive any da... but then i haven;t moderated commenting, try posting it again da...
@the spotless mind: he he... I know how to use 'God damn' and 'God willing'...
'God willing' people will stop killing each other, calling it their 'God's will'
'God damn'if God does exist!!! I'll be 'damned' for eternity!
